We continue to incorporate activities to help our positive mental wellbeing each school year. Each Monday we have ‘Mindful Monday’ and the children get to participate in a lesson focused on positive well-being. One Friday in May we have our ‘Mindful May Day’. Our students get the opportunity to wear whatever makes them feel happy and there are different activities for the children to particiapte in throughout the day.
In the 2021-2022 school year we started working towards the Amber Flag Initiative. Every week the children participated in lessons and activities that helped focus on and develop positive mental and physical health. ‘Vinnie’ the bear also joined our school. He is our ‘listening bear’ and joins the pupils on the yard somedays too. We held a Well-being Week in the school at the end of March. Each day throughout the week, our pupils participated in various lessons which promoted positive mental and physical health; yoga, mindfulness activities, bubble blowing, dance, outdoor lessons and relaxation exercises. We held a ‘Fun Friday’ where our pupils wore their favourite clothes, sportswear or dressed-up as a character that they choose as a fundraiser for Pieta House! The whole school also performed the song ‘Count on Me’ collectively in the school yard. We were delighted to be awarded the Amber flag and a special thank you must go to Ms. Martin and her team for organising it all.
On June 21st 2022 Lee Gannon and Brian O’Leary our past pupils raised the flag and presented medals to all our pupils!
We will continue to incorporate activities to help our positive mental wellbeing each school year.
